Wiseman Muller Dairy fire Protection

Following the large electrical fire at Wiseman Dairies in Hampton Lovett near Droitwich, where at its height, 60 fire-fighters tackled the blaze Hydron were tasked with the job ofspecifying the Fire Protection Paint to the steelwork in areas of the fire damaged rooms. Muller Wiseman Dairies said the fire had damaged a low voltage switch room and fire damaged 25% of the second floor.

Due to the nature of the plant, the paint system used was all water based and low odour. The works were carried out by impact Flooring Ltd who prepared and painted all of the steelwork based on Hydrons recommendations.

Nu-Flame High Build Water Based Metal Primer was applied to all of the bare prepared steelwork followed by Nu-Flame W Steel Basecoat which is a thin film intumescent paint to achieve 60 minutes fire protection.

As the flame resistant paint was applied is areas where there would be the use of chemical cleaning products, the Nu-Flame W Steel Basecoat needed protecting with a chemical resistant fire retardant paint. Nu-Flame AG Colourcoat is a pigmented chemical resistant flame retardant available in any pastel colour. This is a water based coating and was applied over the intumescent paint to protect against any chemicals used within the plant.
