Plastic Piling in Flood Fences - Whats inside the box

The Hammerman Equipment - Plastic Piling Company Limited News and PR from The Hammerman Equipment - Plastic Piling Company Limited - Published 15 December 2015 Protect your property using a new flood fence with MultiLock plastic piling at its core
This post has been sitting for a while in draft mode, and was something I started after attending the Flood Expo at Excel in London. I thought it due for an update as the concept has progressed.

It is also quite topical given the current flooding in Cumbria, and the discussion of investment in flood defence schemes. This is a interesting spin on small scale flood walls, something that can be built as part of an existing private development.

It is always exciting when customers' not only like to use your product, but actively seek to find new ways to use it.

The Flood Expo was no exception, and it sort of follows on well from my last post - The invisible sheet pile, as in this case it is truly hidden!

On the Flood Divert Stand and Pell Frischmann was a very innovative use of plastic piling to provide a modern update on timber fencing....

So whats in the box?

The product inside the timber frame is MultiLock Plastic Piling, this has a unique hexagonal tubular design, that offers exceptional rigidity.

This novel design enables the sheet to support a wide range of piling vibrators, enabling long piles lengths to be driven efficiently.

MultiLock is also available with an in-built mechanical soft PVC seal, improving interlock water tightness. It is currently the only plastic pile of our range to incorporate this feature.

This concept proposed by Pell Frischmann has been developed further and installed as a hybrid for extra strength.

What is clear is that this is an extremely versatile product that can be used on its own as an interlocking sheet pile, or as a hybrid used in conjunction with timber or steel. MultiLock has been driven by a wide range of equipment, most commonly excavator mounted vibrators.

In the case of the hybrid, the wall can either be simply reinforced by the timber or steel, hence elevating the bending moment, or in common with several trends in steel, be used as a king post and the MultiLock becomes the intermediate (albeit encompassing) pile to the more rigid timber or steel primary pile.
MultiLock has found a use on Waterways, Railways and Highways (M1, M6 & M3)
