Lasermet UKAS accredited to BS 62471- LED testing

Lasermet Ltd News and PR from Lasermet Ltd - Published 10 July 2020 Lasermet achieves UKAS accreditation to BS EN 62471 – the Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems - so you can get your LED system safety tested by the UKAS accredited company
UKAS has just awarded Lasermet accreditation for testing non-laser light sources to BS EN 62471 at its test facility in Bournemouth, UK.

UKAS have already accredited Lasermet to safety test lasers.

Safety testing of non-laser light sources, for example LEDs, can now be carried out with UKAS accreditation to BS EN 62471. This accreditation award results from an extremely long process of examination and checking over several years. As a result, Lasermet is the only test house to receive UKAS accreditation for LED and laser testing (other than the National Physical Laboratory - NPL).

Accreditation by UKAS backs up LasermetÂ’s capability to provide a high level of expertise, traceability and professionalism. LasermetÂ’s experience and dedication to these standards puts it at the forefront of specialist safety testing. Customers can be assured that testing is carried out correctly and professionally to the appropriate standards.

Paul Tozer, MD of Lasermet said "UKAS accredited testing to BS EN 62471 is an extremely important achievement for Lasermet and meets with our plans to include photobiological safety of lamps, LEDs and other non-laser light sources. We now have the authority to certify that non-laser light source products tested by us are safe to use in the public domain. This complements our range of laser safety services which includes laser protection adviser work; remote laser safety training; consultancy, auditing and risk assessment functions; calibration of laser power and energy meters and FDA registration reporting- to enable laser systems to enter the US.

So whichever non-laser light source product you have, (typically LED) that falls under BS EN 62471, we can test it with the backing of our UKAS accreditation.”
